Zulutrade Tutorial
Last updated on: 2009-12-22Note about browser: We have found that using the Google Chrome browser will navigate though the zulutrade site much faster than other browsers. It can be downloaded here.
Topics covered in this tutorial:
1 - Opening a Demo Account
2 - Adding Signal Providers to Your Portfolio
3 - Adding Advanced Setting to the Signal Providers
4 - Using Advanced Filters to Find New Signal Providers
5 - General Overview of the information found on the website
1) The first step will be to log into our website at www.zulutradeusa.zulutrade.com.
Once you are in the site, click on the "OPEN ACCOUNT" Tab.
2) Click on the box to the right labeled "Get a FREE demo account"
3) Fill in the form with the requested information, then click on the button towards the bottom of the page labeled "Create my Demo Account".
4) Immediately after clicking on the "Create my Demo Account" button, you will be redirected to a page asking for an activation code. You will find the activation code in your inbox of your email account. You can either copy and paste the activation code into the blank field on this page or simply click on the link in your email and this will activate your demo account and will automatically log you into your account.
5) Once your activation is complete a new page will open in your browser window asking you to change your password. Once your password is changed, click on the button "Change Password"
6) Now you are ready to begin setting up signal providers. Click on the tab labeled "My Account" and then on the "Settings" tab, both are located towards the top of the page. Once you are in the "Settings" page, you can click on the button labeled "Add a Signal Provider".
7) This will take you into the Performance page. You will now add a signal provider to your account. In the box labeled "Signal Provider Name", type in Auto Profit. A drop down will appear directly below displaying his name. You can either click on his name in the drop down list or simply click on the button labeled "Show Signal Providers".
Note: I usually find it best to click on his name in the drop down list to ensure that I am typing the name correctly. If the name you are typing, doesn't appear in a drop down list, chances are you are typing something incorrectly. Example: Typing Elite Captial instead of EliteCapital would produce different results.
8) Occasionally you will be directed to a page which lists the signal providers name. Click on his name in the table below.
9) You will now be in the signal providers performance page. I will cover this in more detail later in this tutorial. For now we will simply add this signal provider to our portfolio. To do this, click on the text "Add to my portfolio".
10) You will be redirected to a confirmation page. Click on the button labeled "Add Signal Provider".
11) You will then receive a warning message about not choosing the signal provider. This is a normal warning message letting us know that too many lots are selected. We will fix this in a few moments, for now click on the button labeled "Add Anyway".
12) Now click on the text "go back to your Portfolio".
13) You are now back in your settings tab. We are now going to specifiy how many lots we want to trade and we will also be putting a stop amount on the trades.
14) You will first want to click on the box labeled "Advance Settings". Once you do that additional fields will be displayed. Notice that the Margin Call -o- meter is reading 21272.0%. Once we make our changes, this value will drop quite a bit. Move your cursor over the the words "Margin Call -o- meter" and a pop up box will display providing you with detailed information on how to read the meter.
15) We will first enter in the value 1 for (Standard) Lots Multiplier (This will allocate only 1 Standard lot for each individual trade that the signal provider submits. A limitation with the demo account is that you can only specify standard lot trades. **When opening a live account you will want to choose a broker that will allow you to trade micro lots within Zulutrade.
Moving along, you will specify the value of 2 for "Max Total Open Trades" (This will keep your account limited to only 2 active trades at one time for this provider. You will find that many times a signal provider can issue up to 20 or 30 trades similtaneously. This can cause your account to become over extended very quickly resulting in a margin call.
Next we will specify the value of 1 for "Max Open Trades/Currency (This will allow only one open trade at a time for each currency pair. If for example this provider traded both the EURUSD and USDJPY, your account would be limited to only receiving 1 trade for the EURUSD and 1 trade for the USDJPY, remember we previously set a limit on this provider to a max of 2 open trades).
We will now specify 100 for the "Stop" (This will automatically close out the trade if it reaches a negative amount of 100 pips.
You will now click on the box under the "Safe" column (this will let zulutrade decide on using either your stop price or it will choose a safer one on its own, whichever is smaller).
To finish and save your changes, click on the button labeled "Save Signal Provider Settings"
16) You will now receive a message that the setting have been changed for the signal provider. You will also receive the standard warning message (no action needs to be taken) specifying that you have exceeded the recommended maximum lot size...
Congratulations, you have successfully added a signal provider to your account. In the next section we are going to cover the information displayed in the performance section should you want to do your own analysis on the signal providers.
17) Towards the top of the page, click on the "Performance" tab which will redirect you into the performance page. Once you are in the performance page click on the check boxes labeled "Include open positions" and "Show Advanced Filters". This will allow us to fine tune our seach criteria.
18) To limit our search click on the boxes labeled "at least 80% winning trades", "have a minimum of 2.5 months of trading" and "are in the top 100". Now click on the button labeled "Show Signal Providers'.
19) Now a new listing of signal providers will show up which meet your search criteria.
20) Please select any one of the signal providers from the list. You will then be redirected into his performance page where you will find lots of useful information for this provider. Please spend some time selecting the different tabs and viewing the different types of information that is available on this screen. Notice that underneath the chart, you can select different timeframes.
21) This is the bottom half of the screen. I wanted to point out that you can see a listing of all his/her trades. I really like to ability to "Export to Excel" where I can do much more detailed analysis.
You have now completed the tutorial. You may now want to add a few more signal providers to your portfolio. By morning you should find that several trades have been issued within your demo account. To view a list of your trades, click on "History" tab.
